Massachusetts has over 200 concert venues ranging in size and location. At first glance, it may seem overwhelming, but this article will help you better understand some of the different options you can choose for your next concert.

Small Style Venues

Some are smaller, more club-style venues where upcoming artists choose to host their concerts. Examples of this style include The Red Room @ Cafe 939, Brighton Music Hall, House of Blues, and Paradise Rock Club. If you’re looking to see a more underground or new artist, these venues will be for you. Also, if you are looking for a more inexpensive way to see a concert or enjoy live music, these spots will become your go-to. However, these venues are often not the best for seating. Many of these spots, like the ones listed above, offer standing room only for concerts. The chart below shows the capacity of those four venues. Although on the smaller end, many of these venues do still have a high capacity, making it easier and cheaper to attend a concert there.

Large Style Venue Capacity

Now, if you’re looking to see A-list celebrities and popular artists in concert, those smaller venues are not where you should be looking. To see a celebrity like Noah Kahan or Taylor Swift, you’re going to want to check out the larger stadium and arena-style venues. The four largest venues in Massachusetts are Gillette Stadium, Fenway Park, TD Garden, and the Xfinity Center. These locations all have a capacity of more than 19,000 people, making your chances of getting tickets at these venues a lot higher.

Large Venue Seating

There is also more variety in the seating and pricing at the larger venues. Each venue offers tiered seating, providing you with the choice to get a more expensive floor seat or pit access, or with bowl and nosebleed seating that becomes less expensive the higher up/farther away you sit from the stage. The images below show the comparison of venue capacity as well as the seating charts for each location, so you can choose the best place and seats for your next concert.

Number of Shows Coming this Summer

Besides the large capacities of these venues, you may also find yourself there due to the number of concerts they host each year. With each one hosting 10 plus concerts a summer, there is an opportunity for everyone to find an artist they are interested in seeing. Some of the top concerts of the summer at TD Garden are Ariana Grande and Bruce Springsteen, at Gillette are BTS and Bruno Mars, at Xfinity Center are Pitbull and Kesha, and at Fenway Park are Noah Kahan and Chris Stapleton. These are just a few of the top artists heading to these larger venues this summer, so check out the full list for each location and start buying those tickets.
